Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)

What is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)?

CDBS is a government funded scheme for children's basic dental services.
Your child may be eligible:

• if they're between 0 and 17 years old for at least one day that calendar year and
• you or they get an eligible payment, such as Family Tax Benefit Part A, at least once that calendar year.

What does it cover?

The CDBS provides up to $1,132 per eligible child over a two-calendar-year period for a range of basic dental services, including:

• Examinations
• X-rays
• Cleaning
• Fissure sealants
• Fillings
• Root canal treatment
• Extractions

It's important to note that the scheme does not cover orthodontic or cosmetic dental services.

 

 

How can you use the CDBS?

You can check your child's eligibility and balance by:

• Accessing your Medicare online account at my.gov.au
• Calling the Medicare program line at 132 011

Using the CDBS is simple and straightforward:

1. Let us know you wish to use the CDBS for your child's dental care.
   
2. Bring your medicare card and sign a consent form before we check your childs teeth
3. We'll confirm their eligibility and remaining balance online.
